About Me

After becoming frustrated with the long wait times for annual bike maintenance, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started by purchasing a set of tools and performing maintenance on my bikes. In 2022, I began offering maintenance services to friends and neighbors to offset the cost of the tools. Over time, this has evolved into me providing affordable bike maintenance and repair services. While this isn't my primary career, I find joy in supporting a sport that I'm passionate about. I prioritize the safety and comfort of my clients by standing behind all of my work. I'm committed to ensuring every bike is in the best condition for its rider.

My Vision

I'm here to offer a convenient and budget-friendly option for bike repairs, especially for those who need basic or intermediate-level services. My aim is to help individuals and families make their bikes more enjoyable to ride without breaking the bank on simple repairs. I also provide reliable and quick services for higher-end bikes, with flexible scheduling options and the ability to address urgent problems before your next important ride.

Repair Scheduling Notes

Hey there! I wanted to share some info with you:

I fix bikes on the side because I love it. However, compared to regular repair shops, it does have some limitations.

First,I don't have set business hours or a dedicated shop. I work by appointment only from my garage. Appointments are specific times for you to drop off your bike and let me do a quick assessment.  There are a few services I can perform while you wait, most notably replacing a tube, but generally speaking, I'll need a few hours to do a quality repair job on most bikes.

Secondly, for the best way to reach me, please send an email to matt@emeraldcycling.com or text me at 248-525-2829. I'm quick to respond to texts and emails, but I don't answer phone calls, sorry.

Last but not least, I don't keep a ton of bike parts in stock. I have some common items, but for any others, I'll need to order them. You're welcome to bring your own parts for me to install (particularly seats and bar tape have a lot of personal choice to them). And don't worry, I'm happy to provide recommendations if needed.

I aim to finish bike repairs within 24 hours of drop-off, and sometimes even on the same day if it's possible. I keep some commonly needed parts in stock to help reach this goal, but for some things, I'll have to order them, which could add a day or two to the process. It's rare for a repair to take longer than three days.

I usually complete six to ten bikes per week, depending on what else is going on. If it's a bit busy, I might need to schedule you for the following week or later, so I appreciate your patience.

If this sounds good to you, you can use the appointment request form on my website or just text me. I'll do my best to respond within two hours of getting your message.
